Myrtle Beach has exciting times ahead...we have a community that is ensuring we stay at the top as one of the nations favourite beach and golf vacation destinations. We continue to see growth in our population as newcomers make Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas their new home. At the end of May 2006, a press realease revealed the preferred route for I-73 into Horry County. The road is expected to be completed within the next 10 year period of time...giving our area the first interstate access EVER!! Imagine the growth potential now! Already we have an influx of buyers who choose our area because of it's central location between New York/New Jersey and Florida, we are within a 12 hour drive to either destination. The addition of I-73 makes Myrtle Beach even more accessible than before!
Our growth takes flight with our local airport - Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is expanding with the addition of a new terminal. Work has already started and expected completion is 2007. The new terminal will be able to handle arrival and departure of domestic as well as international passengers.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the developers of the Hard Rock Theme Park had finalized the funding for a brand new theme park just west of the waterway. Located over 140 acres the park will have six custom designed zones which include roller coasters, childrens play areas, restaurants, cafes, retail stores and a multi purpose live music amphitheater. With an expected 30,000 guests daily, this is a welcome addition to Myrtle Beach's tourism attractions. The park is scheduled to open in 2008.
